New contract and new album

June, 18 between companies Universal Music and Open Company "Neformat" was signed new variant of the contract on recording and release of albums of group TATU. The new contract does not provide participation of Ivan Shapovalov in project any more and as has significant changes in a financial part. Henceforth Lena and Julia will be submitted by the independent sides which together with Open Company "Neformat" to dispose of financial assets of group. Earlier fees of both girls were paid under the privately-owned decision of management "Neformat", that repeatedly resulted in delays of payments. Recording of the second album is planned to begin already on this week, right after that as girls will arrive on studio in London. The start was planned still one week ago, but because of problems with visas girls had to be remain in Moscow.
The new rough date of an output of a new album - the end of 2004.

Official communique: Tatu is going to London to record their new album

A few days ago in Moscow, the company Neformat, which represents Yulia Volkova and Lena Katina's interests and owns the rights on group Tatu, and the record company Universal Music International signed a contract for the recording of 4 albums from the band.
Universal Music will participate to the recording of the second album, the promotion of the band, and will release the second album worldwide. Tatu's previous albums had been released in the world based on the contract signed with Universal Music Russia, the Russian subsidiary of the international major.

Yulia Volkova and Lena Katina will leave for London at the end of June and will stay there to record their second album for at least a month. The creative process will involve authors from the West and from Russia, all gathered in London this summer to write and record the new material before Yulia goes on a maternity leave at the end of August. The baby is due in mid September.

Representatives from Universal will bring the material selected by the label to London, a total of 14 new songs in English. The number of songs provided for the recording by the Russian side is also of about 14. Among them are new songs from authors of Tatu's first album like Valery Polienko and others whose participation won't be announced until the end of London's recording sessions. In addition, it is planned to use some songs that the girls have started to record in Podnebesnaya. Both Russian and English versions of the album will be recorded at the same time.

As for the participation to the recording of the second album of the former co-producer of the band, Elena Kiper, her participation was limited to two songs of her own composition that she offered but did not interest neither Yulia and Lena nor the people in charge of the project, and the material was not accepted.

The girls have the final word in the selection of the material, they will only record material that they personally like. The producer won't be the only decision maker in project Tatu anymore, the girls have already passed this stage and want now to move forward on their own, with the help of the creative team.
